Runa Khan
Runa Khan is the Founder and Executive Director of Friendship operating in Bangladesh, and the Chairperson of Friendship International, based out of Luxembourg. She started her work with Friendship by converting an oil barge, sailed from France by Yves Marre, into Bangladesh’s first floating hospital- the Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital (in association with Unilever).
Since 2014 Runa Khan is also the Country Chair for Global Dignity in Bangladesh.
== Early life ==
The first of three children, Runa Khan was born on the 17th of November 1958. Her father is Alimur Rahman Khan and her mother was Saleha Banu Panni. Descended from aristocratic families from both her parents, Runa has a brother Farid ur Rahman Khan and a sister Ayesha Taasin Khan who is a barrister and is working with (Friendship ) as Director, Head of Good Governance. Runa is the granddaughter of Mehedi Ali Khan Panni, patriarch of the oldest and largest mulim zamindaar family in Bengal. Spending her early childhood in Dhaka, she was enrolled in Dhaka Preparatory School and later in Farmview International School. Runa studied Geography at the (Lady Brabourne College ), Calcutta and later completed her BA in Humanities from the Eden College in Dhaka.
Runa was married at a very early age. She later went on to marry French sailor and adventurer Yves Marre, with whom she co-founded the tourism company Contic. Runa has 3 sons, Wasama Doja, Shehzar Doja and Jean-Salman Marre.
